Time is flying and I am very uninspired and unproductive. However, I did two days of market , 10-11 June, which, although not as good as last year, were quite good. I sold also two of my favorite paintings of the sea, (done in February 2020, few weeks before Corona fully exploded) in an “after show” meeting. I am happy they found someone who will enjoy them, I will miss them. I have been told by a few clients I should check out the work of Karl Hagemeister at the Bröhan, goes on until the end of July, I will be there next week-end!
PAINTERS I DISCOVERED THIS MONTH:
Karl Hagemeister – following my clients’ recommendation I did go to the Bröhan to see his exhibition. It was a small sampling of his work, but incredible. I just adore what he did, the rythm of his impressionistic pictures. He was one of the most important German impressionists at the end of the 19th century. And of course his waves, where he is really displaying, painting, color which just almost casually end up being a wave.
The second painter is Naomi, the youngest daughter of my client Kaija, who visited me today in a post-market shopping trip, with her and her older sister Silvie, for a very fun and colorful – literally! – Sunday evening. Naomi and Silvie are both very interested in the arts, a gift which I hope will stay with them all their lives. Naomi had eyed a birches painting at the market last week and made sure they did not leave today without it! She also made and left me a beautiful horse painting made in a short 15 minutes or so, which I love for its energy and colors. This painting I will treasure, Naomi if you read this thank you SO much and keep painting, no matter what you will be doing in the future!
I need to catch up-…this week-end I am not leaving the apartment until I have painted at least 4 decent things!
